Stephen French 'attacked in prison chapel with snooker ball'
 

Stephen French was allegedly attacked in prison by an inmate wielding a snooker ball in a sock.
Ex-martial arts champion French was reportedly assaulted in HMP Preston with the makeshift cosh.
The ECHO understands that the 56-year-old, who is on remand ahead of a rape trial, was in the prison chapel when a fellow jailbird allegedly attacked him.
A source claimed: “He was in the chapel and he was getting blessed with his head bowed.
“Someone came up behind him with a snooker ball in a sock and hit him with that from behind.
