'Staggering' rise in number of Derby pets being treated for ticks, says veterinary practice
 

Staff at a family-run veterinary practice in Derby said there has been a "staggering" increase in the number of pets they have been treating for ticks.
White Cross Vets, in Alvaston, also said recent research published by Bristol University showed that ticks have been found on a third of all dogs in the UK.
The practice said it treated 27 pets from the start of the year up until this August, in comparison to treating just four during the same period in 2014. And, across 11 of the White Cross Vets practices in the UK, there was an overall increase from 86 to 271.
