St Helens Council leader “fighting for his life” in Spanish hospital
 

St Helens Council leader Barrie Grunewald is fighting for his life in a Spanish hospital after suffering a heart attack while on holiday.
Cllr Grunewald, 37, is in a critical condition after taking ill at a Gran Canarian hotel where he was enjoying a break with friends after recently losing his mother.
The Labour councillor, who has two children, suffered a heart attack at around 5pm on Friday, October 7 and is being treated at a hospital in Las Palmas.
His family are currently travelling to the island to be by his side.
