SSI fallout: The sky's the limit for some ex- steelworkers - but others haven't been so lucky
 

Things are thankfully looking up for many former steelworkers - literally in the case of former SSI employee Lee Bullock.
This time last year, Lee’s hopes of a flourishing career at the Redcar steelworks had been dashed.
An advanced apprenticeship with Corus paved the way to four years with the firm. But just days after confirmation of a six month secondment as a vessel controller at Redcar, his promotion hopes bit the dust when the plant closed.
Like so many steelworkers, Lee, 28, of Marske, found himself at a crossroads. But by reaching for the sky, he’s emerged at the other side.
