Splatter film director Herschell Gordon Lewis who inspired Quentin Tarantino dies at 87
 

The director’s spokesman James Saito confirmed he died in his sleep at his residence in Pompano Beach, Florida.
Lewis’ most famous films include The Wizard of Gore, The Gruesome Twosome, Just For the Hell of It, Blood Feast and Two Thousand Maniacs.
During the 1960s he introduced the splatter film genre, with a particular emphasis on gore.
Lewis was a particular inspiration on Hollywood directors like Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez and James Gunn.
RIP Herschell Gordon Lewis, the creator of splatter films & the director of Blood Feast & 2000 Maniacs. He changed cinema. ❤️
