Spike in number of 'zombied' drug users in city centre over weekend



Paramedics were called out to a record number of 'zombied' drug users in the city centre over the space of one weekend.
Crews were sent to 10 separate incidents to deal with people who were believed to have taken the illegal highs Spice or Mamba last weekend (July 29-30).
Nine people were found across several doorways in Milton Street at 6.30pm on Sunday having breathing difficulties and the inability to speak.
East Midlands Ambulance Service’s resources were strained as they attended the incidents and treated 22 patients.
