Spain's Socialists at odds over political deadlock
 

Spain's Socialist party descended into open warfare on Wednesday as calls to remove the party leader grew in a bid to break a political deadlock which has left the country without a new government for nine months.
A stand-off between the Socialists, headed by Pedro Sanchez, and the centre-right People's Party (PP) - which won the most votes but well short of a majority in two inconclusive national elections - has so far hampered attempts to form a government.
