Southern boss agrees to new talks with RMT



New hope as Southern pledge to keep guards
SOUTHERN has agreed to hold fresh talks in a bid to end the dispute over safety-critical guards following the first of a three-day strike action yesterday.
The chief executive of Southern’s operator Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) Charles Horton wrote a letter to RMT’s general secretary Mick Cash agreeing to meet him this morning.
This came after Mr Horton claimed he would “absolutely” guarantee a second staff member aboard trains during Radio 4’s Today programme earlier yesterday.
