South Yorkshire chief constable David Crompton called on to resign
 

The South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner has called on chief constable David Crompton to resign with immediate effect.
Mr Crompton was suspended by PCC Dr Alan Billings on April 27, following a statement he made the day after the historic Hillsborough inquests found the 96 were unlawfully killed and the fans were not to blame.
The chief constable had apologised on behalf of the force after the verdicts but, the following day, released a second statement in which he sought to justify questioning by the force’s legal team during the hearing.
