Someone just paid £23,000 for a mint copy of Super Mario Bros.

It’s one of the most widely available video games ever made, but there’s a good(-ish) reason why this copy of Super Mario Bros. cost so much.
Because it was often bundled with the console, over 40 million copies of Super Mario Bros. for the NES have been sold worldwide. Which in theory makes it one of the easiest, and therefore cheapest, retro games to get hold of.
But this one went for so much on eBay for two main reasons: it’s still sealed in its original cellophane wrapping and it’s one of the first editions of the game ever made.
