Sky fights to stop losses to cheaper online competitors Netflix and Amazon Prime



Sky is pumping millions of pounds into original TV shows as it tries to stop customers switching to cheaper rivals such as Netflix and Amazon Prime.
This year the British firm is to spend more than £100m on its own productions, a figure that bosses say will allow it to produce four new dramas per quarter.
It is also celebrating record viewing figures for one of its latest efforts, Riviera and is poised to launch two new shows, Britannia and Tin Star.
But its spending pales beside the £4.7bn Netflix plans for new shows.
