Sir Alex Ferguson agreed deal to manage Tottenham before re-thinking decision
 

Sir Alex Ferguson agreed a deal to manage Tottenham Hotspur before becoming Manchester United boss but had a change of heart at the last minute, according to former Spurs chairman Irving Scholar.
The legendary Scot moved to Old Trafford in 1986 from Aberdeen and spent 27 trophy-laden years in the north-west.
The 75-year-old retired from football in 2013 after leading United to Premier League glory but the landscape of English football could have been very different.
