'Shocking neglect' of Shetland ponies with severely overgrown hooves



Three Shetland ponies were subjected to “shocking neglect” after their owner failed to deal with their severely overgrown hooves.
A Pembrokeshire man has since been fined after admitting two counts of causing the ponies unnecessary suffering.
Eric Gwilym Symmons, 63, of Station Road, Letterston, admitted that his failure to act had caused the Shetlands to suffer unnecessarily when he appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates on Monday.
Each of the Shetland had severely overgrown hooves, several of which were so long they resembled upturned slippers.
