Sheffield United fan given banning order following assault at Grimsby Town game



A SHEFFIELD United fan assaulted a fellow supporter inside Blundell Park stadium when his side took part in a friendly with Grimsby Town FC.
Perry Smith received a three-year football banning order at Grimsby Magistrates' Court after District Judge Joanne Hirst heard of his previous football-related violence.
Smith, 30, of Garland Close, Westfield, Sheffield admitted assaulting Michael Harrison on July 23 at Blundell Park when the two sides met in a pre-season friendly.
But police had to make several arrests as fans clashed in Cleethorpes.
