At this time of year — on days when the weather changes quickly from warm to chilly — I have developed a nervous tick around the office.
It's because I know that six miles away, at home with my wife and two boys, there is an act of financial recklessness being carried out.
Someone will have unnecessarily turned on the heating. (And by someone, I mean you, Mrs C).
The knowledge sends me into nervous, sweaty visions. I can see my nearest and dearest wandering around the kitchen barefoot in T-shirts, basking in the lovely warmth.
