Sharp rise in West Midlands hate crime with nearly 6,000 incidents reported



Hate crime in the West Midlands is on the rise, with nearly 6,000 incidents reported in the last year.
The newly released figures follows the confirmation that the region had experienced a sharp rise in the number of racially or religiously aggravated crimes in the months following the EU Referendum in June.
Earlier this week, statistics from the Home Office revealed police recorded a 41 per cent increase in July 2016, compared to the same month the year before.
