Shares in private hospital groups Spire and Mediclinic tumble after takeover falls through



Shares in private hospital group Spire Healthcare tumbled after a takeover talks with Mediclinic International fell through.
Mediclinic, South Africa's largest private hospital group, had until this afternoon to make a further offer, but said it would not go ahead after its 165p bid was rejected.
UK-based Spire, which runs 39 hospitals and two cancer centres, said the bid for the 70 per cent the South African firm does not already own 'undervalued the group and its prospects'.
