Sexual assault of 12-year-old girl 'not linked' to previous attack



Police have issued a second appeal for witnesses after a 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in Scunthorpe early yesterday.
The attack happened at 7.30am yesterday (Monday, September 26), as the schoolgirl walked her dog along Sheffield Street, near to the junction of Frodingham Road, Scunthorpe, when a man approached her from behind and indecently touched her.
Police have now ruled out any link with a previous incident, where a girl was sexually assaulted in an alleyway as she made her way to school.
