See the multi-million pound revamp set to make queues at Newcastle Airport shorter

A multi-million pound upgrade is set to transform the international arrivals area at Newcastle Airport.
A revamp of the international arrivals hall, set to finish in the summer, will bring five new ePassport gates to Newcastle.
The self-service machines use facial recognition technology to check a traveller’s identity against data stored in the chip in their biometric passport.
They’re designed to make crossing the border quicker, and, since the minimum age for users was lowered to 12 last year, many families will be able to use them to quickly get back home.
