Secret tombs uncovered in Mayan pyramids could unravel the secrets of the mysterious 'snake kings'



Two tombs have been uncovered underneath two ancient Mayan pyramids in Guatemala having miraculously avoided being found by looters until now.
The burial sites, which are thought to date back to around 650-700AD, were discovered at the ancient ruins of Holmul, which is located 300 miles north of Guatemala City.
Experts hope that they find will reveal more secrets about a mysterious Mayan dynasty known as the 'snake kings' or Kaanul.
Archaeologists came up with the serpentine moniker based on the family's snakehead emblem.
