Seatbelt crackdown: Huge number of drivers fined £100 - including parents
 

A police seatbelt crackdown found children as young as three are not being strapped up on Teesside’s roads.
Cleveland Police say in just one week, 142 people were slapped with £100 fines, including parents and carers who were putting young lives at risk.
“Putting your own safety at risk by not wearing a seatbelt is bad enough, however, when you take that risk with children who are especially vulnerable it is entirely unacceptable,” said Inspector Phil Grieve, from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit.
