Scunthorpe United 2 Shrewsbury Town 0: Jonathon Margetts debut goal helps Iron through to next round of Checkatrade Trophy



SCUNTHORPE United moved into the next round of the CHeckatrade Trophy with a game to spare after a 2-0 win over Shrewsbury Town.
An Oliver Lancashire own goal and a debut strike from Jonathon Moargetts gave United a comfortable win.
That victory coupled with Cambridge’s victory over Middlesbrougb under 23s meant that the Iron progressed with a game to spare.
Manager Graham Alexander had promised changes before the match and he made eight in all.
The players coming in were Joe Anyon, Charlie Goode, Conor Townsend, Jamie Ness, Sam Mantom, Paddy Madden and Kevin van Veen.
