Scunthorpe UKIP branch chairman 'surprised and disappointed' at leader's resignation



THE chairman of the Scunthorpe UKIP branch has spoken of his "surprise and disappointment" at the resignation of party leader Diane James.
She stood down from her role 18 days days after being elected, saying that she did not have "sufficient authority" to see through the changes she planned in a statement to the Times newspaper.
Speaking to the Scunthorpe Telegraph, chairman of the Scunthorpe, Brigg and Goole UKIP branch, Mike Speakman, said: "Surprised and disappointed would be the right words.
