Scots farmer pockets nearly £3m in EU hand-outs - without growing anything
 

SCOTS farmer Frank Smart raked-in nearly £3m in EU hand-outs last year - making him the biggest recipient of farm subsidies in the UK.
An investigation by environmental campaigners Greenpeace revealed that the UK’s wealthiest aristocrats and even a champion racehorse-breeding Saudi prince are also receiving millions in farm subsidies.
But Aberdeen-born farmer Mr Smart, 55, tops the league of those receiving European Union subsidies through the Scottish Government under the controversial Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
