Scientists spot a new asteroid the size of a passenger plane (but only three days AFTER it passed just 76,000 miles from Earth)

A massive space rock traveling 11,369 miles per hour flew past Earth last week at just one-third of the distance between our planet and the moon – and, astronomers didn’t spot it until 3 days after its closest approach.
The asteroid, dubbed 2017 001, was spotted on July 23 and is estimated to be about 82 to 256 feet wide (25-78 meters).
Despite being roughly the size of a Boeing-737, the object went by completely undetected ahead of the July 20 flyby, and experts say this likely means it’s dark or non-reflective.
