Captain Darren Clarke has instead chosen to pair Belgian rookie Thomas Pieters with Willett’s intended partner Lee Westwood for the final match against Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar.
Clarke, who confirmed the Masters champion would play in the afternoon fourballs, claimed he had made the call to keep the Masters champion fresh.
