Russia demands explantion for ‘openly political’ account closures



The row between RBS-owned NatWest and Russian state broadcaster RT has escalated after the country’s embassy declared the decision to close the TV network’s bank accounts “openly political” and demanded the British government explain the lender’s actions.
A statement from Russia’s UK embassy drew links to the UK government, which holds a 73 per cent stake in NatWest parent Royal Bank of Scotland.
