Rothbury Hospital row: Protest planned over closure of inpatient ward
 

Hundreds of campaigners will take part in a demonstration as they battle to save a Northumberland hospital ward.
The inpatient ward at Rothbury Community Hospital has been temporarily closed by Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust after it was found to be “underused”.
During the three-month closure the ward will no longer offer beds for patients to stay and receive round-the-clock treatment.
The move prompted fury among some residents, who set up the ‘Save Rothbury Cottage Hospital’ campaign group and a petition, which has been signed by almost 900 people.
