Rookie landlord reveals plan to save his local



A labourer turned rookie pub landlord is changing the fortunes of a Gwynedd pub following years of neglect.
Meilir Hughes from Aberdaron was just 22 when he took over The Black Lion in Pwllheli.
With a dwindling number of customers and one-star food hygiene rating, the business needed serious work.
But now, two months on, the pub is already thriving under the new management with many locals returning to the once-popular watering hole to sample the bar and the new menu.
The ex-Ysgol Ysgol Botwnnog pupil has taken The Black Lion on single-handedly, working as a live-in landlord.
