Ronnie Barker trade union leader lookalike dies at 88
 

A Nottinghamshire trade union leader who first raised forestry workers' concerns about the uncontrolled use of farm chemicals, has died at the age of 88.
John Hose played a leading role in the successful campaign to stop sales of the controversial weedkiller, 245T. He was the last president of the National Union of Agricultural and Allied Workers.
John joined the Forestry Commission in 1949 and was based at Annesley in Nottinghamshire for more than 26 years, seeing many of the trees he planted grow to maturity.
