Roger Federer was delighted with his start at the Shanghai Masters after downing Diego Schwartzman in straight sets.
The Swiss negotiated a tricky second-round tie and guarded well against a slow beginning as he returned to competitive action.
Federer has only played at the Laver Cup since the US Open and he admitted he expects it to take time before he hits his peak form – such is the problems of playing your best tennis early in a tournament.
