RICKIE LEE JONES: Pirates (Warner) This came out just after high school. I’d put it on in my room and lay on the floor motionless. Musically and lyrically, she has surges of brilliance. It paints a romantic picture of south central Los Angeles. She taught me how to make the listener think. 
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN: Born To Run (Sony) The sound is huge and the lyrics are great. Jungleland is my favourite and the sax solo gives me goosebumps.
