Rio Olympic hockey hero Maddie Hinch manages to catch jet from Holland for Manchester parade in the nick of time after flight cancelled
 

One of Great Britain’s gold medal-winning Olympic heroes nearly ended up missing today’s national parade - after getting stranded at an airport in Amsterdam.
Maddie Hinch, goalkeeper in GB’s victorious hockey squad, issued a desperate plea on Twitter this morning after her flight from Schiphol to Manchester was cancelled.
It meant she was at risk of missing this afternoon’s national parade through the city centre, which starts at 4.30pm and features hundreds of athletics heroes from this summer’s games in Rio.
