Riddle of Siberia's 2,400-year-old stone statues (and who gave them 'plastic surgery' to make them look more Asian)



A mysterious stone idol with distinctly European features underwent extraordinary 'plastic surgery' in the early Middle Ages to make it more Asian looking, archaeologists have discovered.
Later, probably in the 17th century, the Russian statue was adapted again, to allow the statue to smoke a primitive pipe.
The haunting sculpture carved out of sandstone in the remote Siberian taiga 2400 years ago underwent a 'racial realignment' at some point in its history.
