Richard Johnson excited to ride Hereford racecourse at re-opening
 

Born and bred in Hereford, Johnson rode his first winner under Rules on April 30, 1994 at the track as a 16-year-old on the 25-1 shot Rusty Bridge, trained by his grandfather Ivor Johnson, in the Next Generation Hunters’ Chase.
More than 3,000 winners later, including victories in the Cheltenham Gold Cup and Champion Hurdle, Johnson has established himself as one of the finest riders in the business.
He deservedly won the jockeys’ title last term having finished runner-up to the great Sir Anthony McCoy 16 times.
