By adopting a regular walking routine septuagenarians can recover from disability more quickly and increase the chances of remaining in their own home.
The findings were drawn from the Lifestyle Interventions and Independence for Elders (LIFE) Study in the United States - the largest and longest trial of physical activity in older people.
