Retired traffic cop slams Newcastle City Council over bus lane 'money making scheme'
 

A retired traffic cop has described the now infamous John Dobson Street bus lane camera as a “money making scheme”.
On Thursday we revealed that Newcastle City Council had been ordered to cancel penalty notices issued to more than 5,000 motorists who had been fined for driving through the bus lane.
The Traffic Penalty Tribunal ruled that, due issues around “inadequate” signage one driver's penalty would be cancelled, and the council confirmed due to a separate issue around illumination many of the penalty charge notices would have to be cancelled.
