Rescue crews called to cow stuck in a canal in the south of Leicestershire



Firefighters were called to rescue a cow which had fallen into a canal in the south of the county.
The alarm was raised shortly before 8am today at the Wharf off Welford Road in Welford.
Crews from Wigston, Market Harborough and the technical rescue crew from Southern attended the incident.
A fire service spokesman said at 8.30am there was a large cow stuck in the water.
He said: "The cow is not in distress and has been stuck for a considerable amount of time. Crews attempting to extricate."
