Remembering 38 of our wartime heroes honoured for their Second World War bravery



THE exploits of servicemen from North Lincolnshire were reported in detail in the Scunthorpe Telegraph throughout the Second World War.
As we head towards Remembrance Day on November 11, we look back on some of those stories and remember some of our area's war heroes in your monthly Nostalgia - one sale now.
Here are some of the town's heroes:
MARINE Joseph Watt (above), of Danum Road, Scunthorpe, came home safely for 30 days’ well-earned rest in 1942 after an ordeal which involved an 11-mile swim from raft to raft after his ship had been torpedoed.
