Remember this popular series, set on Tyneside, that first hit our TV screens 40 years ago?
 

Hands up if you were a paper boy or girl...
Yes, me too. I’m one of that ‘select’ band of people who delivered the Chronicle door-to-door (usually reading John Gibson’s Newcastle United reports) and later wrote for it.
If 1977 was the year the Krypton Factor, Citizen Smith and Robin’s Nest, among others, first appeared on our TV screens, so did another offering made closer to home.
40 years ago, Tyne Tees TV launched the drama series The Paper Lads, telling of the ups and downs of a group of teenage news deliverers on Tyneside.
