Record numbers take part in Alzheimer's Society Memory Walk
 

Thousands of people were united against dementia as the North East staged its biggest ever memory walk.
More than 4,500 gathered in South Shields on Saturday to pay tribute to loved ones who have battled the condition and those living with it.
Participants set off on the 7km trek from Bents Park before following a breath-taking coastal route. There was also a 1.5km walk.
