Readers share their delight over the success of Jarrow’s first community market



Sunday shoppers had plenty to say about Jarrow’s new community market - they loved it!
The first event, which saw 52 stalls selling their wares in the Viking Centre, took place on Sunday.
The market, which will be held every fortnight, was the brainchild of businesswoman Carol Jakeman-Flounders who staged a Facebook poll to gauge the public’s response.
Within three hours she had 7,500 people liking the page and pressed ahead with the idea.
Carol was delighted with the weekend’s success.
She said: “It was amazing. It was jam-packed, people were standing shoulder-to-shoulder.”
