Radical plans hint at more privatisation



A RADICAL plan for NHS reform was proposed by clinicians, academics and peers on Friday night that would create a “person-based” health service away from hospitals.
The overhaul recommended by 17 authors, including NHS chief executive Lord Nigel Crisp was published in The Lancet medical journal.
A key element of their “manifesto” was switching from a “hospital-centred and illness-based system to a person-centred and health-based system.”
This would be achieved by boosting services in homes and communities and recruIting other health “providers”.
