Qewy takes Group Three victory in Geelong Cup to increase hopes of challenging for Melbourne Cup win



Qewy, trained by Charlie Appleby for Sheik Mohammed's Godolphin operation, marked himself as a potential Melbourne Cup challenger as he grabbed Group Three victory in the Geelong Cup in Australia.
The 12-furlong handicap at Geelong racecourse has been a happy hunting ground for European raiders in recent times with Melbourne Cup winners Dunaden, Americain and Media Puzzle all winning the event in the past 15 years.
