Proposed fire station cuts could be 'difference between life and death'
 

Proposed cuts to Retford Fire Station that would see a heavier reliance on using retained fire crews "are totally wrong" and could cost lives, MP John Mann claims.
But the Fire Brigade Union say that Notts Fire and Rescue are doing the best they can to balance the books in a difficult situation - and called for the Government to properly fund the service.
The Chief Fire Officer of Nottinghamshire, John Buckley, is proposing a mixed crew system at Retford which will see a retained crew covering nights at the station, rather than the current full-time crew.
