Prestigious honour for D-Day veteran in recognition of bravery



A D-DAY veteran who was injured twice before he was 20 has received a prestigious medal in honour of his efforts during the Second World War.
Peter Troop, 91 of Walker Avenue, Scartho has received a Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur which will be formally presented to him at a ceremony in Wetherby, Leeds.
Peter, who was an instrument mechanic at Tioxide Grimsby, said: "I don't believe I deserve the medal. There were so many others, not just me. They are all deserving of it as well."
