In Manchester United's drab, blunt performance away at Liverpool, the Premier League might just have got its first look at how tightly-fought this season's title race could be.
Two teams with title ambitions came together, both desperate not to lose at the eight-game mark of the new season. It might not be the last time big games go that way — although hopefully with a little more spectacle to them.
Gary Neville was scathing of United's credentials afterwards, claiming that Jose Mourinho might know his side are not well-equipped enough to fight for the top spot come May.
