PPI sharks 'have cheated customers out of £5bn': Warning rogue industry is charging victims up to £1,000 a time to retrieve money they are owed 



Bank customers trying to get compensation from being mis-sold payment protection insurance (PPI) have been cheated all over again, a new report warns.
Members of the House of Commons Public Accounts Committee (PAC) said the PPI scandal has spawned a rogue industry charging victims more than £1,000 a time to retrieve the money they are already due.
The MPs warn that stronger action is needed to tackle the problem that has seen ‘sharks’ take up to £5billion from payouts that could and should have been paid to the victims of mis-selling.
