Pound v US dollar: GBP inches ahead of USD on upbeat UK data
 

Having struggled for the greater part of this week the pound found a firmer footing against the 'Greenback' on Friday, bolstered by the market reaction to Friday's large run of UK data prints.
Most notable amongst these were the headline balance of trade figures for September, with the UK's deficit narrowing from £-3.46B to £-2.75B - drastically below the forecast of £-4.7bn.
This marked the smallest trade deficit recorded since May, with exports soaring 2.2 per cent to an all-time high of £51.58B and imports increasing at a much slower 0.7 per cent to £54.34B.
