Popular Berwick footpath can now be enjoyed all year



Northumberland County Council has just completed surfacing work on a popular Berwick footpath.
Askew’s Walk links the New Road riverside path on the northern bank of the River Tweed to the old Paxton Road upstream of Berwick.
The upper section of the path was lost in a series of flooding events and landslips over a number of years and a new route was established in adjacent fields, to the east of the original route.
This was completed with the kind permission of the two neighbouring landowners, Donald and Sarah McPherson of Castlehills Farm, and Hugh Vietch of Reston, Eyemouth.
